Fall Trail Hat

I was looking for a hat to wear during the winter cold weather. This hat provides everything I was looking for - fits well, is warm, and the style suits my head/face. The sizing guide worked well, providing a product that fit as expected. Ear flaps work well.

As it is a gift I cannot yet speak about product satisfaction. It looks gorgeous. Well made.

Tilley has, lately, brought out some very cool hats, and for the high quality of workmanship you are getting they are bargains. I've never regretted one purchase from them.

Received this hat earlier this week in Olive

PROS:

1/ Made in Canada. Nice to have a quality product from my own country for a change.

2/ Leather hat band

3/ Ear flaps long enough to cover all of my ears

4/ Mostly wool = warm

5/ Not stiff construction like the Montana hat. The Trail Hat could be folded "accordion-style" from crown to brim for packing in a suitcase.

6/ Looks great.

CONS:

1/ Sizing by S/M/L etc as opposed to by Tilley Size in 1/8" increments. I am usually a 7-3/8 and ordered the L size. It fits ever so slightly loose. I can get around this in warmer weather by "rolling up" the ear flaps, creating a thicker band of material around the back. In colder weather, I won't mind if the hat sits a bit low and with ear flaps down, it is unlikely to blow off.

2/Not stiff construction like the Montana Hat, if you were looking for a more structured hat.

Overall: Very good indeed. Minus 1 star for sizing ( maybe it was not practical to size this type of material in 1/8" increments?)
