At Tilley, our hats are designed to sit comfortably low on the head. The proper fit should be slightly loose, as gravity will keep your Tilley in place.
Step 1: Wrap a string around the widest part of your head, located 1 to 2 cm above the top of your ears and brow line.
Step 2: Determine the measurement with a ruler, then add 2 cm to the total, for comfort.
Step 3: Convert that final measurement into your hat size in the chart below.

These hats fit perfectly. I have had Tilley hats for over 3o years and have not been disappointed yet. I had to return one because it was worn out and it was replaced with no question. Best company to deal with bar none. I love these hats and have given to all my friends and they love them also.

This is my third hat from Tilley, one bought in Tofino, the other two online. I love my hats.
I recently purchased the Golf hat, and there was a problem with the stitching on one side, which I wrote to the company about. I got a very satisfactory reply, with suggestions as to how to fix the problem, but I decided to send it back for the refund, and it will be back in the factory next week. I will be ordering another right away! Just a suggestion: that whoever packs the hats, should check for flaws, to prevent such occurrences in the future, thanks again!

Couldn't decide between the Golf Hat and the T1 Bucket. They're essentially the same hat with a few key differences:
BRIM of the T1 Bucket is slightly longer at the front.
COLOUR: For summer, I chose the Golf because I preferred the grey over the light colours of the T1 which I could see getting grimy pretty quickly.
FABRIC: Preferred the Golf Hat's tighter weave nylon fabric over the cotton duck of the T1 -- for enhanced rain protection and probably easier to clean.
WIND CORD: The Golf has an elastic toggle wind cord that adjusts at the back of the hat band (not seen in any of the product pictures but which is quite obvious) vs the longer tuckaway cord of the T1. In a high wind? It might look a bit dorky but you're definitely not going to lose the T1. Would the Golf stay on? Guess it depends on how tightly you've cinched it.
Stores aren't open so I couldn't try on to compare. There are no photos of people wearing the hats on each product page so it's hard to imagine how they will sit on your head. Please bring those back; they're helpful in trying to figure out fit. I bought the wrong size and the one that would fit is now sold out.
LASTLY, the 1cm high Tilley word mark prominently sewn at left front of the hat band is not seen in any of the product photos and really detracts from the clean design. If you want me to advertise your products, you need to pay me!
