Spot clean with damp cloth when needed. \nFor removable sweatband: Remove from hat, hand wash cold, use mild detergent, air dry, and reattach.

Tilley offers refunds on new, unwashed, unworn items within 30 days of the date of purchase.

THE RIGHT FIT

At Tilley, our hats are designed to sit comfortably low on the head. The proper fit should be slightly loose, as gravity will keep your Tilley in place.

Step 1: Wrap a string around the widest part of your head, located 1 to 2 cm above the top of your ears and brow line.

Step 2: Determine the measurement with a ruler, then add 2 cm to the total, for comfort.

Step 3: Convert that final measurement into your hat size in the chart below.

Wonderful customer service.

When I received the hat I had ordered online, the wrong hat had been sent. Customer service was quick to help and had the proper hat sent to be right away. Straw sun hat fits tighter than my other canvas Tilley, so just be aware.

Nice hat

I never thought I would splurge on a woven sun hat such as these, but some of you with normal head sizes take for granted being able to buy cheap hats! I have a giant head and the department store bought ladies hats never fit me. I love this hat, though I wish it had a string on it. It does have a spot for tying one, so I wish they would have included a cord. The removable sweat band is a smart feature. It’s a sharp looking hat. I like it.

Lovely hat, but …..

This is a substantial hat, heavier than I expected and fully lined. But I do like it. The website gives no information about the material so I will quote from the online Owners Manual, “Toyo is derived from Japanese rice stalks that have been made into pulp for paper. Toyo braid holds colour and shape well; and is surprisingly durable. (Not guaranteed for life.)” What the website also doesn’t tell you but it does on the attached tag, is that it has a UPF rating of 50+. It has a small pocket in the lining and also the sweatband is detachable for washing and can be used to adjust the sizing. Sadly it has no tie on cords but I am going to sew some on to the inner band.

I was dismayed to find that the rather posh box in which it was delivered is actually too small for the hat and the brim was bent under. I am hoping it will sort itself out in time but it is a shame that an expensive hat doesn’t get a box to fit!
